I'm not what you'd call traditionally organised. I usually know where everything is, but the where is often under the sofa and slightly to the left or on top of the fridge. However, as I am getting used to being in my early thirties, I thought I should have a crack at finding a place for everything.
Naturally, this involved turning to technology. So, I'm going to share some of the apps that I've found most useful on my journey to be a more organised adult. As I find more I will pop back and update this list.
Evernote
Evernote is a great tool for jotting down ideas, saving useful web pages, creating to do lists or just organising your thoughts. You can sync your notes across the Evernote app on two devices for free - and who doesn't love something for free? There is also a subscription option that will let you sync across all devices you may use.
I find this particularly useful for shopping lists, saving recipes in one place, making weekly food plans and noting down things I need to remember.
Google calendar
It's hardly surprising that a calendar app will help you be more organised, but the Google Calendar app is particularly useful.Using the app on your phone lets you set tasks with reminders as well as saving appointments. You can also colour code everything, so you can see at a quick glance if an appointment is for work, fun or literally anything else you can think of.
I also like the range of options regrading how you can set up your calendar view on your smartphone.
MyFitnessPal
I have a tendency to get carried away. This goes for pretty much all areas of my life, but especially with food. If you're anything like me, keeping a weather eye on whether or not you're overdoing it on the chocolate buttons can be a royal pain. For me, using MyFitnessPal helps me keep track of what I'm eating and whether I've had enough water.
I am a firm believer that if something gives you pleasure you should absolutely enjoy it and I don't believe a fulfilled life revolves around calorie counting. But this app gives me a sense of control over part of my life that usually runs riot.
If you have any useful apps you use to keep yourself organised, leave a comment here or drop me an email at lazycatguide@gmail.com and I'll add them to the list.
